New Virtual Fairfax Application Is Now Avaliable to View Fairfax County in 3-D
Fairfax County has launched Virtual Fairfax, a 3-D web application that enables residents to view Fairfax County in a new way. With Virtual Fairfax, residents and the business community can view 3D buildings, terrain, aerial imagery, and take virtual tours. Using the mouse, it is possible to fly over properties from any angle, look at photorealistic 3D buildings from multiple perspectives, view shadows by time of day and year, and much more.
Virtual Fairfax includes specific Fairfax County details you cannot find at other commercial sites. Unique to this application, thousands of buildings in Tyson’s Corner and the Dulles Toll Road corridor are fully modeled in 3-D. When viewing a property, the approximate parcel boundaries can be viewed, and with a click of the mouse, connections may be made to the Tax Administration’s assessment website, the My Neighborhood application, and the Land Development System. With these integrations, residents can derive detailed information about a property, its political jurisdictions & public representatives, land development activity, and many other topics.
With this new application, residents can search for County addresses, schools, parks, and other places of interest and quickly view the terrain and the latest aerial imagery of the County. Maps may be marked up with lines, shapes, and text. Links to a specific location may be created for sending to others. Dynamic aerial tours of both business centers and historic sites are available as well as the ability to add your own 3-D buildings. With this capability, proposed developments can be modeled and shown in the context of the existing environment in Fairfax County.

My Neighborhood
My Neighborhood is an Internet mapping and information reporting application. Its intended use is to let users know what features and facilities are available in and around their neighborhood. Through the My Neighborhood application, you can find information about parks, schools, libraries, fire stations, and other public facilities in your neighborhood. You can also find general information about your location such as what supervisor district you are in and other location specific data. The information is broken down into logical business groups called Views: General Information, Parks , Demographics, and Police Incidents. Each view has unique map types and unique reports. Map types allow you to see different layers of information about the same area, and reports contain detailed information about a specific area.
Digital Map Viewer
View individual pages from all published Fairfax County map books as downloadable and printable documents. View property, zoning, contour, sanitary sewer, storm water, soils, and Chesapeake Bay Preservation maps. Current year maps are regularly updated, and the application hosts historical maps back to 1960. Each map is a PDF file and each set is divided into 444 maps based on the County map grid.
